Cannabis Destinations

Here are our top cannabis destinations and why!

With the countries around the world legalising the use of marijuana, what are the top cannabis destinations? Other than, say, our favourite cannabis destination

While most will automatically shout out Amsterdam, it looks like its hay-day might be coming to an end with the number of coffee shops dropping from 166 to 70. So, with that in mind, where else should you go?

Cannabis Destination Canada

With Canada offering cannabis travellers the right to use it completely legally, it’s our top spot destination at the moment. However, each of the Canadian provinces do have their own particular laws, so just read up about them.

To establish what is legal, or you can use a service like HiBnB.

But what about their neighbours down south?

United States of Cannabis

The legalisation of weed in the USA is complicated and varies widely from state to state. Once again, research is key and using apps like the previous one we mentioned will help a lot.

But the following states have allowed anyone to use cannabis recreationally:

  • Colorado
  • Washington
  • Alaska
  • Oregon
  • Washington, D.C
  • California
  • Maine
  • Massachusetts
  • Nevada
  • Michigan
  • Vermont
  • Guam
  • Illinois
  • Arizona
  • Montana
  • New Jersey
  • South Dakota (still pending a lawsuit though)
  • New York
  • Virginia
  • New Mexico
  • And Connecticut

A pretty extensive list!

Where else?

In the tiny country of Luxembourg

That’s right, the tiny European country of Luxembourg is on its way to legalise the use of recreational weed.

This being said, it’s not being legalised for tourism, and the roll out has been halted due to COVID-19. But when it is passed, you’ll be able to freely consume marijuana while taking in the sights and sounds of this picturesque country.

One of the best Cannabis Destinations: Uruguay

In 2013, Uruguay become the first country in the world to legalise weed. Consumers are allowed to purchase 40g a month, which is monitored by the government and dispensed at licensed pharmacies.

Currently, if tourists are gifted cannabis they are allowed to enjoy it. But the government has start to work on a method to allow visitors to buy their own supply.

Loophole in Spain

While in Spain it’s not legal to smoke or buy it, there’s a giant loophole that the clubs take advantage of. If visitors make a donation to the club instead of buying said product, they can consume a gift in return.

See where this is going. So, be generous and go to Spain.

Of course we’re mentioning Jamaica!

Cannabis is a way of life on the island of Jamaica. In 2015 it was finally decriminalised for possession throughout the island, we feel like they must have just given up! Now you can possess up to 56.6 grams without a medical prescription, but it will land you a 500 Jamaican dollar fine (US$5).

If you do obtain a medical card this won’t be an issue, and some sources say doctors on the island are pretty chilled about issuing them.

And those are our top cannabis destinations picks.

If you’re just keen to enjoy your own crop at home, well, buy some seeds.
